Managing Your Membership Record

Q: How do I renew my membership?

A: Approximately two months before your membership expires, you will receive a renewal notice. You may return the notice with payment by mail or renew your membership online. You can also renew in person at many of our 50+ historic sites and museums or call the membership office at 800.686.1545.

Online Account

If you have not registered for a new member account since July 2017, you will need to do so in order to access your member discounts on event tickets and to RSVP for member events. Signing in before you renew your membership will also help us make sure we maintain your membership history. We periodically send user registration reminders to members who have not yet signed up, however we know those are easy to overlook. Please contact us via email to request a new registration link. Our office is open Mon.–Fri. from 9 a.m.–5 p.m. We try to respond to requests the day they are received, however requests sent over the weekend will be processed on Monday or the next business day if Monday is a holiday.

Q: What if I receive another renewal notice after I have sent in my payment?

A: Please disregard the notice. Sometimes your payment and a reminder notice will cross in the mail.

Q: How do I change my address or correct a misspelled name?

A: You can send us an e-mail with your name, member number, former address, new address and any other changes. Your information will be updated within 3 business days.

Q: I filed a change of address form with the Post Office when I moved. Do I still need to send you my new address?
A: We receive address updates from the Post Office approximately every three months. To ensure you receive all your membership materials, please contact us with your new address shortly before you move.

Q: I just mailed my membership application/renewal form and payment. When can I expect to receive my new membership cards?

A: New members will receive an introductory membership packet and card(s) within 3 weeks. Renewing members will receive updated membership cards within 3 weeks, as well.

Q: What do I do if I need a replacement membership card?

A: Contact the Membership Office to request a replacement card.

Q: Will I ever pay for admission at an Ohio History Connection site?

A: Your membership includes free regular admission at all of our sites. Discounts for events can vary, so Ohio History Connection members may be asked to pay admission or purchase tickets for special events and activities. If you are unsure if an event is included with regular admission or if there will be an additional charge, contact the historic site directly or contact the membership office at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Q: If I purchase a new membership online, can I begin taking advantage of my membership benefits right away?

A: Yes! Look for a separate e-mail after you purchase your membership with instructions on how to print a temporary membership card. Present the temporary card at any Ohio History Connection site to receive the admission benefit for your membership category.

Q: How do I use my 10% shopping discount at the online Ohio History Store?

A: Enter the membership coupon code into the box on the online shopping cart, prior to clicking the Checkout button. To obtain the coupon code, please contact the Membership Office at  800.686.1545 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Q: Why doesn't my member discount show up on my online ticket purchase?

A: To access your membership discount you must first register for an online account and then be sure to sign in. If you have registered directly from the ticket page rather than through the personalized link we periodically send to set up your registration it is possible that the system generated a duplicate record and does not recognize that you are a member. If you believe this to be the case, please send us an email and we will connect your user ID to your membership.

Once you are signed in, please note that the member price shows up as a discount on eligible tickets rather than a separate member price. This discount does not appear until AFTER you click "add to cart."

Q: Can I give membership as a gift?

A: Yes, gift memberships are available for birthdays, graduation, holidays, or any other occasion. You can register friends, family, or associates for a gift membership on your renewal notice or application, by calling the Membership Office, or at our online store.

Q: How do I donate money to the Ohio History Connection?

A: We accept monetary donations online, by mail, and over the phone. Please visit our donations web page for more information.

Q: How do I donate items to the Ohio History Connection?

A: For information on how to donate historical items such as books, manuscripts, audiovisuals or artifacts, please contact the Collections Registrar at 800.686.6124.

Common Questions about Visiting Fort Ancient

Q: Are guided tours available at all times?

A: Guided tours are available to groups who schedule in advance. Drop in visitors can utilize the self-guided tour, exploring the Museum and adjacent prehistoric garden, and viewing the earthworks from the comfort of the paved drive or on established trails. Fort Ancient staff and volunteers will also be happy to answer any questions that you may have. If you would like information about Guided Tours for School Groups and Adult Group tours click here.

Q: Are there any rules about exploring the grounds at Fort Ancient?

A: When hiking, it is imperative that visitors remain on established paths at all times. In addition to maintaining a "Leave No Trace" ethic for the facility, the prehistoric earthworks can be fragile and Fort Ancient is an active archaeological site.

Q: Do I have to pay admission to visit The Museum Store at Fort Ancient?

A: No. Feel free to browse and shop at The Museum Store as long as you like without paying an admission fee.

Q: Will I have to pay for parking at Fort Ancient?

A: Visitors who choose to tour the grounds only, with no access to the Museum or indoor facilities, may choose to pay $8.00/carload to park and have access to the site. On-site parking is included with full access Museum admission, and free for members.

Q: Is Fort Ancient Accessible?

A: In compliance with the Americans With Disabilities Act, the Museum at Fort Ancient is fully accessible, and the adjacent prehistoric garden pathways have a level gravel walkway. The grounds at Fort Ancient include three-quarters of a mile of paved drive, from which much of the site can be viewed. However, the North Overlook and outdoor facilities are not handicapped accessible. Service animals are also welcome to accompany you, if needed. Three Handicapped Parking spaces are located close to the entrance, providing easy access to the facility.

Q: Is photography allowed at Fort Ancient?

A: Yes. We encourage visitors to take photographs both in the Museum and throughout the grounds, and even video footage of their visit to Fort Ancient as a way to remember the experience. If you are taking photographs for publications we ask that we be allowed to review and approve each photograph prior to publication. During certain events, however, the opportunities for photography and video footage may be limited. At events such as these please inquire as to the appropriateness of taking photography or video footage.

Q: Can my spouse or partner bring my kids to Fort Ancient?

A: All of our membership cards are imprinted with the names of up to two adults who are living in the same household. We encourage all parents and other adults raising children to share the experience. If your spouse or partner's name is not listed on your card, please let us know so that we can add them as an additional "Add-On" or include them as one of the named adults on your Membership card when filling out your Membership information, provided you are in the same household.

Q: Can I bring a pet to Fort Ancient?

A: Pets are allowed on the grounds at Fort Ancient, but must be on a leash and properly tended to. Only service animals with a service vest are permitted in the museum.

Q: Will I be photographed while visiting Fort Ancient?

A: Anything is possible! At Fort Ancient, we commonly take photographs or shoot video footage to document events, and to use for promotional purposes. If you prefer not to be photographed while visiting Fort Ancient, please inquire at the admission counter if any documentation is occurring during your visit.

Q: How can I volunteer at Fort Ancient?

A: Fort Ancient has many great volunteer opportunities, no experience required, just the willingness to learn and share with the public. If you are interested in volunteer opportunities at Fort Ancient click here for more information.
